What is Safeguarding and Child Protection?
Safeguarding is all about taking action to ensure children's well-being and protecting them from harm.
Safeguarding means:
- Protecting children from abuse and neglect
- Preventing harm to their health or development
- Ensuring children grow up in safe and supportive environments
- Taking steps to help all children and young people achieve the best outcomes
At our school, we are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
To support this, we have a Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, along with procedures in place. All staff—whether they are permanent, temporary, volunteers, or governors—need to be familiar with these procedures. Parents and carers are welcome to check out our safeguarding policies in the "School Policies" section of our website.
If we have concerns about a child's well-being, we may need to share information and work with other agencies. We always aim to discuss our concerns with the child’s parents or carers first, unless we believe that doing so would not be in the child's best interest.
If you are concerned about a child's welfare, please record your concern, and any observations or conversation heard, and report to one of the DSLs (shown below) as soon as possible, the same day.
