If you are a Year 1 child self isolating in Spring 1, 2021, here is your work!

You should complete the following work whilst you are self-isolating:

- minimum 1 Maths lesson per day

- minimum 1 English writing lesson per day

- 1 phonics session for 30 minutes per day

- reading for 30 minutes per day

- RE for 2 hrs 30 mins per week

- PE/physical exercise for at least 2 hours per week

- Other subjects - at least one session per week

Maths

In Mental Maths, children should learn to recall automatically

- their number bonds to 10

- jigsaw facts e.g. 3 + ? = 10 / 4 + ? = 10

- doubles and halves to 10 and then to 20

- counting in 2s, 5s and 10s

Write a prayer thanking God for the gift of Christmas.  Focus on God's very special gift to us at Christmas.  Explain in your prayer why Christmas is so important to Christians around the world.

Science - describing and comparing the structures of common animals

Think about 3 different animals e.g. a cat, a fish and a bird.

Collect everything you know about each type of animal e.g. how many legs, fur/scales etc.

Now look at photos of these animals and watch videos.  Can you identify any more similarities/differences?

Which type of animal would you rather be?  Why?

 

History/Geography - Winter (seasons)

Using photos from Christmas cards and magazines, make a winter collage.  Collect a word bank of all the vocabulary that you think goes with the winter season.

Can you think why it might be cold in winter?

 

Art/DT - drawing animals using shape, colour and collage/designing and making a hat

Can you make a collage of an animal?

Can you draw an animal?  Pay particular attention to its fur or its feathers or its scales.  How will you make them look lifelike?

 

Research different types of hats.  When do people wear hats?  What materials can hats be made from?

Create a board of all different designs and types of hat.

 

PE
You should get up and move around A LOT!  Even though you are inside self-isolating, you should do at least 2 hours exercise a week.  Why not find an online workout video? Dancing or boxercise are great fun!
